Needlecraft Cottage offers courses in a variety of needle arts, for every level of learner. Our instructors are all avid crafters, and love nothing better than to help students as they explore the worlds of knitting, crochet, and needlepoint. If you think you're ready for a first-ever attempt to pick up a needle of any sort, or if you've been doing the same old patterns and stitches for years and want to branch out a bit, we have the class for you!

In order to keep the cost of these classes as low as possible, your entire class fee is going to the instructor. We ask that during class, you not park in front of the shop as a courtesy to the customers who will be coming and going. (You can park in the two spots in the alley behind the shop .)

• Knitting in the round on two circular needles (Eileen)
• Shoulder bind-offs: three-needle bind-off and changing 'stair-step' to short-row bind-off (Eileen)

Students will learn to knit a lace pattern and read a lace chart (provided), how to knit bobbles, pick up stitches, and knit a ruffle, along with finishing techniques.(Minimum of four students pre-registered needed to hold class.)

Learn a variety of Estonian knitting stitches in this weekend-long knit-in, and create a pair of beautiful mittens! The class fee does not include supplies; a potluck meal is planned. Click here for details.

Have knitted UFOs hanging around your place? Unfinished Objects sit in your basket, looking at you accusingly and taking room away from new yarns! Eileen will help you with finishing issues you may have to get those UFOs done. This class is not a drop-in group; students must pre-register and contact Eileen before the class so she can discuss what finishing assistance is needed.(If you would rather call her, please call the shop at 858/272-8185; we'll have her call you back.)
Classes are limited in size to 5 students.

Learn needle felting with Maggie; you pick the time and the place! Work out some of your frustrations as you learn to make cute little animals and toys.

Maggie will teach you to make free-form knit and crochet purses, using techniques from Prudence Mapstone's "Never Too Many Handbags." Come check out the book and make arrangements to meet with her!

Need in-depth knitting help suddenly? Kristi has classes every Monday that don't require pre-registration. She also hold class on the second Saturday of each month. No limit on the number of students!
